Summary
A simple, quick yet eyecatching portfolio site for a TV/Film Editor
About the Project
Jo Smyth is a television editor specialising in drama who’s worked on some of the biggest hits of recent years including His Dark Materials, The Witcher and The Man Who Fell To Earth.
This efficiently simple yet visually heavy site was worked on as part of my employment at FenechDigital Limited.
The Brief
The brief for Jo Smyth was a simple site to showcase their recent features and credits. The homepage was to be visually heavy with film thumbnails taking you into a simple, single page per-project with a showreel video.
The Approach
Wordpress was used, in connection with Advanced Custom Fields, by mutual agreement of the Project Director and the Client. With this approach in mind I then set out using WordPress’ Custom Post Type Feature to leverage the creation of a “Portfolio” post type that would provide bespoke, seo-friendly URLs and make it easier to manage in the CMS.
The Outcome
The website was turned around in a quick timeframe due to it’s sheer simplicity and a responsive client that responded to feedback incredibly quickly.

Reflection and Key Skills
Jo Smyth was one of the first projects I handled alone after my probationary period at FenechDigital and was a great chance for me to demonstrate my:
- Communication skills with a client,
- Solo working style and methodology,
